Yup. If you're into p2p/file sharing for your music, why not for your radio as well? Untrackable broadcasts mean no risk for the original broadcaster, so all sorts of interesting content gets out. Howard Stern, Don and Mike, O&A, musical variety, etc...all live! The program is at http://www.streamerp2p.com. I've been using it for several days, I find no spyware, and it works fairly well with the jaws cursor. I've got 142 channels, from WBUF and WBEN live feeds (US talk stations including, Rush, Dr. Laura, Howard Stern, Don and Mike, Loveline, etc), Jaz Oldies, Pop, Rock, Indi Rock, High School radio, and others. Much fun.
How exactly does that work? Can you broadcast things on there as well? Does the feeds come from local radiostations?
The feeds come from who ever wants to make them. The stations didn't offer permission, so it's probably against the law depending on where you are (not in Canada afaik, not listeners responsability to ensure broadcast is licensed). Yes, you can broadcast what ever you want. I believe all of the O&A stuff is just pirated from the MX channel through someone's line-in jack.
I'm scared to do anything illegal...Lol...However i am looking or good onlien radio stations.
I've downloaded it, but haven't managed to get it to work yet. as for broadcasting on it, sounds simple enough, not quite sure how to configger it yet.
If y'all want to hear some music online that's legal go to www.luv2bablyndi.net and go to the music section and sign up.
No, that's not legal. His site doesn't contain the ASCAP/BMI license information, therefor I assume he doesn't have one. Thus it's not legal. I don't care, but I'm just saying. Getting ready to set up a streamerP2p broadcast here, getting automation software set up and configured, getting jingles etc, and sorting out schedules. Hope to be up sometime next week.
No no its' only streaming though, not downloading...
Doesn't matter. Streaming stations require a license as well, and they must report every track played and how many times it was played to the required authorities. I am sure the site in question does not do this. Therefor folks using it can be officially classed as criminals. I'm not saying it's right, but I do think everyone breaking the law should be aware of the fact.
Streamcast has an easier user interface if you ask me.
I had a broadcast on streamcast last night...for about ten minutes. OdCast crashed on me. I hate that thing.
On the website, it says you can configure this thing to play in winamp, but I'm a bit confused as to how the config thing is set up. Could you assist me there, a bit?
I wouldn't use OdCast. It works with shoutcast as well.
Hey fastfinge, can you please add me to MSN? joshuatubbs1@msn.com. Thanks.
Does shoutcast work with foobar? If not, what other than OdCast does?
What's Foobar? Is that another network? If so is it as easy to use as Peercast? So far I found Peercast to be the easiest. Streamer was too fiddley. and I didn't know what I was doing half the time.
foobar is the best media player currently available on windows. URL is in next post.
http://www.foobar2000.org
messin with it its interesting has potential might try streamin tbrn to it
can't figure out ho to stream, is there an alternaitve cliant?
Streaming with Peercast is relatively easy, just go to the broadcast page and fill in the form.
